A storm water tree pit, also known as a tree trench or strip, provides a more congenial environment for growing trees. Key ingredients include adequate soil type and volume, irrigation as needed and adequate drainage. Often, inadequate soil volume or composition and nearby pavement may interfere with tree growth. In these cases, managers often recommended suspended pavement systems — preferably with permeable surfaces.
