To receive reimbursement, trees must be “qualified” as a municipal asset– that is, a “facility” that delivers tangible services to the community. Examples include stormwater management, erosion control, heat island reduction, and others. At a minimum, plans and permits that govern these services [e.g. stormwater management, watershed and water quality, TMDL, etc.] should describe the role trees play in delivering them. This checklist covers the additional documentation you’ll need to make a case for reimbursement.
