Philly Watersheds promotes community action through training, tools and opportunities for residents to improve the places they live.
Philadelphia Water is committed to a balanced "land-water-infrastructure". Their goal is to regain resources around streams that have been lost to urbanization while also achieving regulatory compliance in a cost effective manner. The green stormwater infrastructure includes a range of soil-water-plant systems that intercept, infiltrate, evaporate, and in some cases release a portion of it slowly back into the sewer systems. Philadelphia Water has a vision for restoring waterways including stabilizing streambanks and promoting regular base flow ratios, maintaining healthy, trash-free waterways and protecting the riparian buffer to provide a safe habitat for wildlife and aquatic life.
